ARCHOS Diamond Plus 4G LTE Phablet Announced Officially
Of late, Archos, the French smartphone brand is making waves with its premium yet affordable Android devices. The latest device to join its upcoming lineup is the Diamond Plus smartphone. It joins the league of Android-powered devices from Archos stable, such as the Diamond Tab, the Diamond S and 50e Helium. The announcement comes right before the IFA 2015.
With the Diamond Plus, Archos is trying to cater to the phablet category. It fits snugly between its Diamond S and Diamond Tab devices. The upcoming Diamond Plus boasts of top notch spec found in existing flagship devices from rival brands. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, an Octa-Core MediaTek CPU, 2GB RAM. 16GB internal storage is there in the device along with usual MicroSD slot. The graphics are handled by a capable Mali T-720 GPU.
The dual SIM Diamond Plus supports 4G LTE networks and it also comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed. The 64 bit MediatTek CPU may not be as fast as Snapdragon 810 chipset used in some rivals, but it is fast enough for nearly all needs. The 2850 mAh battery should be adequate for most users as well. There are nearly all wireless connectivity features in it and the device also supports quick charging.
Design wise it does resemble the iPhone to an extent, but no hardware button is there on the front. The rear part resembles that of HTC One M9 and Oppo R7. As far as imaging capabilities are concerned, the Archos Diamond Plush as a rear facing 16MP camera. There is an LED flash and you also get an 8MP front camera.
Archos is going to release the device in November, as per the news. Pricing for the US market is not yet known, but it will be quite affordable, say industry sources.
